Putin accuses U.S. of orchestrating Georgian war:
http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/europe/08/28/russia.georgia.cold.war/index.html

The Russian Prime Minister is accusing the US of orchestrating the attack of south ossetia. Even though he doesn't have any evidence, he believes that the government did it to give an advantage to the presidential election. It is logical to think that McCain was the one for the advantage, if the US government did do it, because he is more experienced with war and would be a better president during a war crisis. He also pointed out during this discussion, that the US's poultry meat was not up to standard, and that 13 US countries could no longer export poultry to Russia, and 29 more are at risk for that. War of words over future of South Ossetia:
http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/europe/08/29/russia.georgia.south.ossetia.ap/index.html

Russia intends to have South Ossetia join North Ossetia as one country.
Some people from Russia and Georgia say that this might not be true.
The deputy parliamentary speaker says, "Soon there will be no South or North Ossetia--there will be a united Alania as part of Russia."
People believe if South Ossetia remains independent, they will be the target of many attacks from Georgia.

Tensions build as U.S. ship arrives in Georgia"
http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/europe/08/27/russia.georgia/index.html
A U.S. Coast Guard ship arrived in Georgia with supplies for them. The ship was carrying more than 76,000 pounds in supplies including: milk, juices, food, and hygiene items. At least 50 U.S. military planes have landed in Georgia with more supplies. Russia is mad at the U.S. for delivering many supplies. Now, Russia and Georgia are just arguing what has happened. Also, Bush wants South Ossetia and Abkhazia remain part of Georgia.

Home prices plummet to a new record:
http://money.cnn.com/2008/08/26/real_estate/Case_Shiller_home_price_report/index.htm?cnn=yes

The National price of homes dropped 15.4 percent in the past year. Due to the fact that the economy is weak right now no one is in the mood to buy a new house right now because they don't have the money to do it. On the other hand houses are being put on the market due to foreclosures and people who can't afford to stay in the house they are in. Those who aren't being affected by the weak economy are holding out to buy a new house until house prices hit rock bottom. Las Vegas is the worst city for drop in housing prices, while Denver and Boston actually saw a slight increase in home prices.

california allowed gay marrige in their state this summer, iowa is still debating on the subject.
there are two ways that the us gov't could make sure that there is no more gay marrige, they are
1. someone could bring the case to the supreme court so they can perhaps overrule it,
2. the other way is by getting an ammendment, which is not easy.
things are probably going to stay the same in california for awhile.
