Important People: Christopher Hill-U.S. nuclear envoy.
Six-Party Talks: The Six-Party Talks concerning the DPRK’s nuclear program involve the United States, North Korea, China, Japan, Russia and, South Korea. However, the primary players are the US and North Korea.
The U.S made a deal with North Korea that if they stopped making nuclear weapons the U.S would deliver them supplies that they need like food and other items. N. Korea says that we aren’t following through on out deal though, and they have started making nuclear weapons. N. Korea invited Christopher Hill on this multi-capital trip thing that includes N. Korea, along with S. Korea, China, and Japan as well so ha can negotiate with them. The U.S also thinks that the N. Korean leader Kim Jong II may be seriously ill, because he has not been attending things that he normally attends. Many people are wondering who are in charge. The U.S and allies in the six-party talks insist N. Korea provide information on how to verify its earlier statements, but the N. Koreans claim that the demands are too intrusive.
